Laboratory
Since 1985, when MPI was founded as a manufacturer of magnetic equipment, we have made significant progress.
Today, we are able to support companies across a wide range of industries by offering a complete service package, including the supply of magnetic materials, 2D/3D design support using advanced calculation software, sample and prototype development, material characterization, and batch production with full traceability.
Services & Equipment
MPI Magneti Permanenti Industriali operates a state-of-the-art testing laboratory for the complete characterization of permanent magnets and soft ferromagnetic materials. In addition to magnetic properties, the laboratory evaluates mechanical characteristics, attractive and repulsive forces, thermal and dimensional properties, and the final performance of magnetic materials or integrated electromagnetic devices, providing accurate and reliable technical data under real operating conditions. Upon customer request, hysteresis curve measurements can also be performed.
MPI also offers computer-aided design and validation services for electromagnetic devices through virtual prototyping using advanced 2D and 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation software.
All measuring instruments are regularly calibrated and certified by internationally recognized metrology institutes, and the company operates under a UNI EN ISO 9001 certified quality management system.

Optical Measurement System
The Keyence optical measurement system is an advanced instrument that revolutionizes dimensional inspection. It enables fast, accurate, and repeatable measurements that are independent of the operator, thanks to its intuitive user interface.
Within the MPI laboratory, the Keyence system allows rapid inspection of a wide range of magnet characteristics and generates detailed inspection reports in just a few moments.
Magnetic Field Scanner
The magnetic field scanner is an advanced system for magnetic field mapping and the measurement of field distribution on permanent magnets and rotors.
The instrument analyzes the sinusoidal magnetic field profile of permanent magnets, accurately detecting variations between the North and South poles, as well as any distortions or asymmetries.
Ideal for the inspection of multipole magnets, it ensures high quality standards, consistent measurement results, and improved operational efficiency.
X-Ray Coating Analysis System
A non-destructive technology for measuring the thickness and composition of metallic coatings, including nickel, chromium, and zinc, on a variety of substrates.
Using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometers, available in both portable and benchtop configurations, rapid, accurate, and non-contact measurements can be performed to verify compliance with coating specifications.
Ideal for the quality control of small components, this technology adds significant value to our coating processes, ensuring high reliability and consistent performance, particularly for technical magnetic components.
Salt Spray Test Chamber
The ASLI SST salt spray test chamber is an advanced system for accelerated corrosion testing, designed to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metals, coatings, and surface treatments under controlled salt spray conditions.
MPI has introduced this equipment to further enhance the quality and capabilities of its laboratory, enabling more accurate and reliable testing while ensuring compliance with the highest quality standards.
Digital Optical Microscope – Keyence
To ensure increasingly accurate analyses and deliver the highest level of service, we use a state-of-the-art digital microscope capable of capturing ultra-high-resolution images with magnifications of up to 6,000×.
The system enables comprehensive 2D and 3D measurements and analysis, as well as surface roughness, contamination, and other surface characteristic evaluations, providing customers with precise, fully documented, and easily shareable results
TableCut 200 Precision Cutting Machine
The TableCut 200 is an automatic precision cutting machine designed to deliver outstanding accuracy, repeatability, and machining quality across a wide range of materials.
It is ideal for sectioning metallic materials, printed circuit boards (PCBs), semiconductors, ceramics, and quartz or rock samples, ensuring precise cuts while minimizing damage to the specimen.
3D printer
Our laboratory has a Formlabs 3D printer, used for the rapid and precise creation of supports, layouts and functional prototypes.
We mainly use it to develop equipment dedicated to the production process, such as fixing jigs and magnet holders, thus optimizing the processing steps and improving internal efficiency. High-precision resin technology provides high levels of detail and repeatability, making it ideal for technical and industrial applications.
This tool allows us to create tailor-made solutions in a short time, improving the quality and flexibility of our processes.
