REACH Compliance
The Company complies with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 – REACH, the European Union regulation aimed at improving the protection of human health and the environment from risks arising from the use of chemical substances, while also reducing the need for animal testing.
The REACH Regulation applies to all chemical substances manufactured, imported, or placed on the European Union market and concerns most companies that produce or import substances in quantities exceeding one tonne per year.
Companies subject to the Regulation are required to identify and manage the risks associated with the substances they manufacture or place on the EU market through studies and assessments included in registration dossiers. The purpose is to demonstrate safe use and provide users with appropriate risk management measures. Registration dossiers are submitted to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), which evaluates their compliance with regulatory requirements and oversees the placing of substances on the European Union market.
In accordance with the interpretation provided by ECHA in the Questions & Answers published on its official website, a magnet must be considered a substance or mixture, rather than an article, under the REACH Regulation, as its function is primarily determined by its chemical composition rather than by its shape, surface, or design.
Consequently, a permanent magnet, as a substance or mixture, is subject to the applicable requirements of the REACH and CLP Regulations.
