PROFESSIONAL MAGNET REALIZATION AND CALIBRATION

Magneti Permanenti Industriali (MPI) has a modern internal measurement laboratory equipped with advanced technologies inside the factory. It has advanced instrumentation of the latest generation technology to fully satisfy the required characterization of the magnetic materials, and conduct professional permanent magnets calibration.

We are able to obtain the complete characterization of any type of industrial permanent magnets as well as soft ferromagnetic materials. This not only concerning their magnetic properties, for sure important, but not completing the view of customers during their choice of the most suitable material for a specific device. Often it is also needed to go deeper into mechanical properties, pulling/attraction forces, thermal properties, exact samples size and in the electromagnetic device where magnet performs.

Furthermore, MPI offers a complete service for the design, optimization, and numerical validation of all kinds of magnetic and electromagnetic devices, by mean of virtual prototipation with advanced finite element software (FEM).

At the MPI lab, instrumentation is regularly certified at Metrological Institutes with International recognition. MPI is also ISO 9001 certified. We have all the needed means, experience, and expertise to provide custom design of permanent magnets and develop top-quality products for the industry.

MEASURES THROUGH HYSTERESIGRAPH FOR PERMANENT MAGNETS

In this department the magnetic properties of permanent magnets and soft
magnetic materials are measured:

Residual Induction Br
Coercive force Hc
Intrinsic coercive force jHc
Energy product BH
Recoil permeability μrec
H at knee in 2nd quadrant Hknee
Complete hysteresis loop
2nd quadrant hysteresis loop
Magnetization curve (1st quadrant)
Recoil cycle

MECHANICAL, DIMENSIONAL AND THERMAL MEASUREMENT

During the design or test of a magnetic or electromagnetic device, questions and aspects may arise even if not strictly linked with the magnetic properties of magnetic materials, dealing with the thermal or the mechanical subjects. Instruments in MPI laboratory can answer to these questions, being equipped to perform characterization from the following points of view:

  • Thermal
  • Mechanical
  • Exact dimensions detection (via specific optical high accuracy equipment)
  • Pull force

FLUX DENSITY AND MAGNETIC STRENGTH FIELD MEASUREMEN

Flux density measurement (B) and direct strength field measurement (H) are performed by different Hall effect magnetometers (or gaussmeters), which allow:

  • Local measurement of magneticinduction
  • Measurement in the gap of the device
  • Leakage density flux measurements around the device or magnet
  • Environment magneticmeasurement

SURFACE FLUX DENSITY MEASUREMENT ON CYLINDRICAL PM SAMPLES

With specific instrumentation it is possible to obtain the characterization of cylindrical or ring shaped permanent magnets by changing the angle and distance from the sample surface of the measuring sensor. These measurements can be directly recorded in a personal computer and be used for further analysis and computing.

This characterization can be considered a key point for some electromagnetic devices such as:

  • Motors
  • Generators
  • Sensors

Often, this is the only way to check the final properties and correct magnetization of these industrial permanent magnets. For example, this could be the case with multipolar, injection moulded, or overmoulded magnets or in cases when high repeatability of device performance is required.

MEASUREMENTS OF MAGNETIC FLUX IN FLOW

  • Helmholtz Coil
  • Rogowski Coil
  • Iron Core wound coils
  • Device winding (ex. electric motor)
  • Customized winding

3 – AXIS HELMHOLTZ COIL

The triple-axis lets you see the direction of the magnetization with respect to the axes, regardless of how you place the magnet.
